Dawidus Pategas
(Patega). Born in Kovno aprox 1892 or a few years there after. Came to
the US in 1910 listed age of 18. Fathers name Michal patega(s) Mothers
name Heva Parekininkyte. Listed address of allesedrowka??? Married
Antonina Pietkiewiczona whom was also born in Kovno. 1889. They were
married on 10-22-1914. Certificate signed as Francis Paeiteigas. Also signed
items in Pategas and Patega. His first name also changed to sevaeral
others. David, Anthony, Frank, Francis. Original on ship manifest is
Dawidus Pategas. He could not read or write. Which makes it harder to
figure out the true spelling of my name! Antonina died 02-13-1921 giving
birth while in hospital with pnemonia. Child also died days later. Three
children died and 2 survived during this short marriage. Antonina is
laid
to rest in St Michaels Cemetary Lot 3 No. 302 Section 2 at the age of
31. Children are in another cemetary what appears to be written is town
cemetary. The 2 left surviving are John J Pategas and William Pategas.
William died a few years ago in his 80's. My Grandfather John J Pategas
is still with us at 86 with Parkinsons in a nursing home. He is not
expected to live much longer. he attempted to find his Dad ( Dawidus ) in
1947 and The state of CT Office of Commisioner of Welfare sent a letter
stating that his father ( which also lists all the first names he used
)had a last known address of 730 Main St, Bridgeport, CT.In 1943 this
was the last known address. Do not know where he went after that. The
state has no record of his death, even with all the different first names
and different spellings of the last name. He listed a uncle of William
Parkin in Shelton, CT. in 1942. This uncle was whom he came to see when
arriving to the U.S. I tried locating this Uncle and have came to a
dead end as well. Any further suggestions??? I am at a loss as to
where to go with this.

Mykolas Patega and Marija Pategiene were booksmuglers. They lived in Zhemaichiu
Naumiestis, Shilute district, Klaipeda county. Russian authorities
convicted them in 1904 April 18. Where can I find more info on Mykolas Patega to see if there is a connetion.
