On the paternal side Kant descends from Curonians, as we know. Now here is a hint at his mother's side: she is of Franconian descent. Which makes Kant the typical East-Prussian German-Baltic blend.

Kants Vorfahren väterlicherseits stammten aus Kurland, einer Landschaft nördlich von Memel. Die "Kurische" Nehrung erinnert an den Stamm der Kuren. Urgroßvater Richard Kant besaß einen Krug in Ruß bei Heydekrug. Großvater Hans Kant war Riemermeister in Memel. Kants Vater Johann George Kant, ebenfalls Riemermeister, siedelte nach Königsberg über. Die Vorfahren Kants mütterlicherseits stammten aus Franken. Der Vater seiner Mutter, Anna Regina Reuter, war von Beruf auch Riemermeister. Kants Eltern hatten am 13. November 1715 in Königsberg geheiratet.
