Don't even try to tell hollander he speaks lowgerman, but really it is so.
Like austrians speak bavarian. They belong to different nations but are bearers of similar ethnicity.
 

You only confirmed: main fundament that separates one nation from another is identity.
You are right, don't tell to dutch he speaks in low-german. On the other hand they call it as dutch or flemish language. It is imposible to communicate with dutch using standard german.
