Thank you for posting this. Very interesting. My Barteit cousin in Germany did the DNA test a year or so ago and let me know of the possible connection to the Grand Duke. The farthest I can go back is my mother's grandfather Adolf Barteit from Šiauliai around 1860.
What is also interesting from the link is that I see listed my 11th great grandfather Henrik Tawast (as a possible descendant of Rurik). This is on my father's side who are Swedes from Western Finland.
