Subject: King aware of the danger

Es muss aber dabei hauptsächlich mit darauf gesehen werden, dass die Knaben der Sprache, Sitten und Gebräuchen der Nation nicht fremd werden.

The King very clearly saw the danger of alienating the young Lithuanians from their Lithuanian background when giving them an education in a completely German context. Finding an appropriate home where they would not lose their mother tongue was a major problem. A good arrangement was to become a boarder in the home of a Lutheran minister, like in the case of Jonas Pipirs (Pfarrer Jordan) and Alexander Kurschat (his uncle Friedrich Kurschat).
