Wow, that is really something!
In his book "Die zemaitischen Mundarten" (The Samogitian dialects) Antanas Salys discusses the reasons why Lithuanians emigrated to Prussia. According to him only a small group of bojars did so for religious reasons,while peasants had material reasons.
He quotes from a letter to Queen Bona in which Abraham Culvensis uses this phrase:
"MULTI LITHUANI NON VULGARITER DOCTI ELEGERUNT SEDES IN GERMANIAM".
So when 16th century Lithuanians crossed the Memel river they arrived in Germany!
Do Russian-Lithuanian historians not want us to believe that the territory on both banks of the Memel river has been Lithuanian for thousands of years!
