I seems that link doesn't works:
http://www.academie-polonaise.org/images/stories/pliki/PDF/Roczniki...

I doubt you know all problemacy of Lithuanian claims. And for one thing I am sure that you read article of Władysław Makarski not very carefully.
First, about so called "Lithuanian ancestors". Lithuanian authors (honestly writing ther are only few authors who interest Mickiewcz) claim that existed person with surname Rymwid-Mickiewicz (Rimvydas-Mickevičius as they write). I can give quote if you don't trust. But if you read Makarski's article you'll see that Mickiewicz ancestor had surname Mickiewcz and name Walenty Rywmid.

Anyway the main target of article is the etimology of surname Mickiewicz. The are some versions of origin: from Belarusian (Ruthenian) Mic'ko, Mic'ka etc. i.e. short variants of Dimitri or Mikola also could be from Polish Micek. Also surname could be from placename Mickowce. From geneology is hard to say origin, because documented geneology of Adam Mickiewicz reaches only the end of 17th century.

Anyway who knows better who is who, if not the person himself. Adam Mickiewicz about himself: "mój ojciec z Mazurów, matka moja Majewska z wychrztów" - my father from Masovians (i.e. Poles), my mother from baptiseds (i.e. Jews).

P.S. About Brückner's quote - yes, in the 19th century town of Wilna was outside of Lithuanian ethnic territory. Town of Troki in the end of 19th century (that is sure) was out of also.
