I am surprised how no one until now managed to understand a simple disappearance of sounds:

lietuvninkai
.jet.w.ing.i

lietuvis
.jet.wes
.jet.wese (plural)

So called "jotvingiai" is just terrible creature made in the beginning of 20th century by Kazimieras Buga. This nonsense led to full misunderstanding of early Lithuanian history.
