Так называемые "jotvingiai" oт русскoгo "ятвяги" просто ужасная ошибка, сделанная в начале 20-го века Казимирoм Бугoй. Этa глупость привела к полному непониманию ранней истории Литвы.

А не реальнее происхождение от GETAI - GETVIAI - JOTVIAI (Ятвяги)?
Изменение G -> J имеет примеры: GINTARAS -> JANTAR (Янтарь).
