A grave has been found on Dartmoor which is a moor in the county of Devon in the South West. The grave appears to be of a person aged 15 -20 and the build suggests a female. The grave dates from early Bronze age.
What is interesting is that in the grave are some grave goods including a necklace which contains some amber beads of Baltic Amber. Some of the beads and the bracelet are made of tin and this is the earliest record of tin smelting. Tin would have been found in the area but amber would not. The grave is thought to be of a high ranking person. So how was the amber obtained and could this person have been a migrant?
