What scientists? Can you mention them? At present we can say only, that gothic language undoubtely influenced prussian language and, undirectly, lithuanian. Gothic language left some written records and it supposed to be germanic language (eastern branch - not nothern as swedens).

There were hypothesis of the Zulkus (based on some archaeological data), that population of the Gotland island 2000 years ago, perhaps, was rather western baltic than germanic. However, it seems, that that article (printed in 1995 in book "Lietuvininku krastas") had not continuation.
